Regional Conference Attendance Grant for an Employee, Volunteer or Board Member of a Library in Interior or Northern Alaska

 

Join colleagues and friends while networking and learning more about library services, and have a great time doing it! The Alaska Library Association will provide up to $500 to help defray conference expenses for one or more librarian, paraprofessional staff, volunteer or library board member from the Interior or Northern Regions to attend the 2008 AkLA Conference in Fairbanks, February 28-March 2, 2008. In addition, conference registration fee will be waived for one award recipient.

ELIGIBILITY:

•  You must be working in or with a public, school, academic or special library within the Interior/Far Northern Region boundaries, (see map at http://www.travelalaska.com/Regions/StateCommunity.aspx)

•  You must be a library staff member, board member or volunteer.

•  You must either currently be a member of the Alaska Library Association, or join before the grant is awarded.

•  Submit your application to AkLA 's Continuing Education Committee by January 15, 2008. Download an application here:

CONDITIONS OF GRANT ACCEPTANCE

The recipient will sign an acceptance statement agreeing to the following conditions:

•  The recipient will attend all three days of the conference.

•  The recipient will receive their grant check at an awards function, to take place during the conference.

•  The recipient will keep a daily log or diary about the sessions attended to be submitted to the CE Chair as a basis for project evaluation. This will be used by the committee to improve this grant award and its requirements. Both positive and negative comments are helpful.
