AkLA Public Roundtable 2004 Fairbanks Conference Attendance Grant If you have wished you could attend AkLA conferences, but your library's budget hasn't stretched far enough to cover travel expenses, here's a great opportunity. The Alaska Library Association Public Library Roundtable is offering up to $1,000 as a grant to each of five public library directors or library staff from outside the Interior region to attend the Alaska Library Association Conference in Fairbanks, Alaska, March 25-28, 2004. The Roundtable recognizes that there are deserving people who - would both benefit by attending the conference and would bring new ideas to AkLA - if only they could afford to come. $1,000 should cover most if not all conference expenses for recipients. If you are interested and ready to make the commitment to come, print and mail or fax the application (http://akla.org/fairbanks2004/2004grantsplgform.html). Grants will be awarded based on need and perceived benefit. Winners will be required to write a letter post-conference detailing what conference activities they attended and an evaluation of each. If you have any questions about the program or want clarification about the application please e-mail Public Library Round Table Chair Christine O'Connor library@ci.dillingham.ak.us , subject: TRAVEL GRANT or call her at 907-842-5610.
