Travel Grants:

Competitive travel grants are available to help defray Conference attendance expenses for AkLA members who are librarians, paraprofessional staff, volunteers and board members.

Libraries within the Northern Region are eligible for the AkLA Regional Travel Grant. The Alaska Library Association is offering up to $500 to library employees, volunteers and / or library board members at libraries in the Northern Region to assist with travel and
lodging expenses incurred while attending the 2005 AkLA Conference. Plus, the conference registration fee will be waived for one award recipient! Attending the 2005 AkLA Conference in Barrow may be affordable after all!

School libraries are eligible for one of twelve AkASL Travel Grants of $750 each. To apply, send a letter of interest to your AkASL regional representative with an essay describing "How attending the Alaska Library Association Conference Will Further My Professional Development and Benefit My Library."

Public libraries outside of the Northern Region are eligible for the Public Library Roundtable Travel Grant. The AkLA Public Library Roundtable will award five $1,000 grants this year to allow librarians from public libraries outside the region of the city hosting the conference to attend. Grants are awarded based on need and perceived benefit. Winners will be required to write a letter after the conference detailing their conference activities and giving an evaluation of each.This conference will be a wonderful chance to learn from experts, network with your peers, and browse exhibits from national and Alaskan vendors.
